Algeria has taken all measures to ensure the repatriation of the Nigerian refugees at the request of their country, Interior Minister Tayeb Belaiz said Sunday.

"At the request of the government of Nigeria, Algeria has taken all required measures for the repatriation of displaced Nigerians who entered Algeria illegally," APS quoted Belaiz as saying after his meeting with visiting Nigerian Minister of Interior, Public Security and Religious Affairs Massaoudou Hassoumi.

"The repatriation of the Nigerian refugees will be conducted in a fraternal way and in full respect of human dignity until they return home," he added.

Hassoumi said his country had already requested the repatriation of Nigerian refugees in Algeria, xinhua reported.

Hundreds of Nigerian refugees, mostly women and children, have crossed the border and reached Algerian cities to flee rampant famine in their country.
