Algerian ambassador leaves Libya after armed siege

The Algerian Ambassador to Libya, Abdel Hamid Bu Zaher, has left Tripoli following an armed siege, a security source said Friday.

The gunmen surrounded the Algerian embassy Thursday night threatening to kidnap. But the could not succeed in their abduction bid after Libyan security forces intervened, Xinhua quoted the security source as saying.

The security forces escorted the ambassador and some diplomats until they left the airport in Tripoli to return to their country.
