All passenger trains carry first aid boxes: Gohain

The government on Friday said that all the passenger trains have been provided with First Aid boxes containing essential drugs and dressing materials.

"All passenger trains are provided with First Aid boxes containing essential drugs and dressing materials which is available with the guard of the train, who is trained to provide basic aid to the needy passengers," Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

"In case of medical emergency, passengers can contact help line number 138 through their mobile phones or inform on-board ticket checker for arranging medical assistance."

Gohain said that the First Aid boxes with a wide range of medicines, disposable medical materials have also been provided with the Train Superintendents of Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express trains.

 

"The station masters have details of doctors, clinics and hospitals (railway, other government and private) in the vicinity of the station, so that their services could also be availed, in emergencies," Gohain added.
