Despite heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, it was business as usual on Thursday for border trade across the Line of Control (LoC) in divided Kashmir.

Government officials said the cross-LoC trade between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad took place as usual with vehicles carrying goods crossing the LoC in north Kashmir's Uri sector from both sides.

"Twenty-six vehicles went across the LoC from our side to Chakote near Muzaffarabad while 13 vehicles carrying goods from the other side reached the Salamabad trade facilitation centre near Uri town," an official said.

Cross-LoC trade was started between parts of divided Jammu and Kashmir in 2008 with a view to de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan.
