A team of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau allegedly "caught" the principal of Amritsar's Government Medical College doing private practice at his government house in Amritsar, vigilance officials said here on Saturday.
The principal, Dr B.S. Bal, was "caught" after the vigilance department sent a decoy customer to his residence for treatment.
A team of the vigilance bureau then raided the doctor's residence and accused him of indulging in private practice in contravention of the rules for government doctors.
However, the principal alleged that he was being framed and the incident was just a trap.
Vigilance officials said that the trap was laid following a tip-off that the principal was doing private practice at his government residence in Amritsar's Medical Enclave.
