Singer Anastacia has revealed her mastectomy scars for the first time. She says she feels "extremely empowered" by putting them on display on her own terms.
The singer admitted she has been "nervous" to show off her body after many surgeries and treatments following her battle with breast cancer," reports mirror.co.uk.
However, she has learned to love her body again. She stripped off for an intimate black and white cover shoot for the latest issue of FAULT magazine.
"If paparazzi photographed them, I'd feel like I was being shamed but being able to release them this way, I feel extremely empowered," she said.
"I resented them - I resented how large they were but I also understood why I needed to go through all the physical changes. My scars are part of my journey and a reminder of all the things I went through with my mastectomy."
The star, who found out she was facing a cancer battle in 2003, explained her scars are in an unusual place because of her tattoos.
