Ankita Raina entered the quarterfinals of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) women's $25,000 tennis tournament, beating qualifier Kamonwan Buayam 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-1 in the second round at the Deccan Gymkhana here Wednesday.
The fourth seeded Ankita remained the only Indian in the fray in the singles competition after compatriot Prarthana Thombare lost her second round match against third seed Sofia Shapatava of Georgia 6-4, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (6).
Serbia's Nina Stojanovic defeated seventh seeded Polina Laykina of Russia 6-1, 6-3 and Ellen Allgurin of Sweden beat eighth seeded Veronika Kapshay of Ukraine 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-1.
Top seeded Anastasiya Vasylyeva of Ukraine continued her march as she defeated Ayaka Okuno of Japan 6-3, 6-7 (5), 7-5 in a match that lasted for three hours.
Magdalena defeated Russia's Margarita Lazareva 6-2, 7-5; and Cristina downed Belarussian Sviatlana Pirazhenka 6-2, 6-3.
