Two days after a suspected ISI agent was detained, the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police on Monday nabbed his brother Jaffar Khan from the city on charges of spying, police said.
Akhtar Khan was picked up by the STF on Saturday on suspicion of being an agent of Pakistani spying agency Inter-services Intelligence (ISI).
"Akhtar's interrogation revealed that Jaffar was also involved with him in spying. We have arrested him," an STF officer said.
"We have seized several incriminating documents from his possession."
The police have claimed they have recovered many documents and over Rs.1.70 lakh in fake Indian currency notes from Akhtar, who was on Sunday remanded in police custody till November 29.
Akhtar, who used several aliases, gathered intelligence for Pakistan while working as a bartender in Kolkata. He is believed to have lived in Karachi from 1985 before coming to India in 2008.
