Another newborn baby was rescued from west Bengal's North 24 Pargana district on Friday, police said.

"A baby boy aged between 10-12 days was rescued from Benapole village in North 24 Pargana district's Deganga on Friday. The kid was deserted at the corner of a club in the village," said an officer from Deganga police station.

Residents of the village first heard the child's cry and informed the local police station.

Five newborn kids have been recovered so far in the last three days amid increased police vigil after the unearthing of child trafficking racket in the state last month.

Three newborns including a baby girl were rescued from South 24 Pargana district on Wednesday while one more baby boy was recovered on Thursday from a deserted filed in Burwan district's Memari.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party supporters led by state BJP president Dilip Ghosh, agitated in front of state Health Department headquarters 'Swastha Bhaban' in Salt Lake demanding the resignation of Child Development Minister Sashi Panja.

The agitating BJP workers also demanded Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the inter-state child trafficking case.
