Poachers have killed yet another one-horned rhino in Assam's Kaziranga National Park and took away its horn, officials said on Thursday.
Park officials said the incident came to notice on Thursday morning when the guards recovered the carcass of the rhino from the park's Burhaphar range.
The rhino horn was missing, which indicated poaching, park officials said.
This is the 16th one-horned rhino to be killed by poachers in the park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this year.
"We suspect the rhino was killed on Wednesday night. The involvement of militant outfits is suspected as we have recovered empty cartridges of AK- 47 rifles from near the carcass," a senior park official told IANS.
Although the government claims to have taken several steps to stop the menace, the poachers continue to kill the animal for its horn.
