App to save if your kid is in trouble

A 12-year-old child from Texas has developed a new mobile app that turns the power button on any Android phone into a virtual panic button in case there is a threat.

If the phone gets locked and power button is pressed six times, the app called "Save Me" sends a pre-written text message to several numbers programmed into the app.

In its upgraded version, if the power button is pressed, the receiver will get a GPS map showing the sender's exact location, media reports said.

According to the boy Dylan Puccetti, the idea to develop this app hit his mind while on way to the school with his father.

"If I was getting abducted and I have my phone in my pocket, all I have to do is reach down and press the power button," Puccetti was quoted as saying.

Currently, the app is available only on Android devices.
