Indian archers Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das got engaged here on Tuesday and are slated to tie the knot next year.
The couple exchanged rings in an engagement ceremony as Deepika, wearing a cream and green coloured 'lehenga-chunhi', performed a traditional puja with Atanu at her residence in Ratu-Chatti.
Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda and his wife Mira Munda were present on the occasion.
Deepika, who has not had a great year and slipped to fifth in the rankings, said they got engaged this year as 2019 is going to be busy.
The 24-year old former world number one archer has won three silver medals and one bronze in World Cup Finals but has repeatedly failed to make a mark at the Olympics.
Atanu has also been out of form recently, returning empty handed from the Asian Games in Indonesia earlier this year. He is currently world number 17 and is a regular in the men's recurve team.
