Two people have been arrested with 10 sophisticated weapons meant to be delivered in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), police said Thursday.

Gajendra Singh, 29, and Devram, 40, were arrested from the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) Sarai Kale Khan in south Delhi Wednesday where they went to deliver the illegal arms to one of their contacts.

"Possibility of using these weapons by gangsters and criminals of Delhi and NCR could not be ruled out," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.

One of the accused hails from Madhya Pradesh, and the weapons were manufactured in Khandwa in the state.

During investigation, it was revealed that the gang was headed by two people - Sardar and Jeetu - both residents of Khandwa.

"The arrested accused were involved in this illegal trade since the last two-three years and have supplied over 300 sophisticated weapons to people in Delhi, NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana," said Yadav.

Rates for .32 bore pistol, 9mm pistol and .30 bore pistol is around Rs.20,000-25,000, a .32 bore revolver around Rs.18,000-25,000 while a 12 bore gun is sold at around Rs.40,000-50,000, he said.

"To escape the police dragnet, the gang manufactured the weapons in remote jungle areas," he said.
