Young men aspiring to join the army on Thursday stoned police vehicles and briefly blocked the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, leading to the detention of 27 people.
Thousands of young men flocked to Gurgaon, many in vehicles which were haphazardly parked, causing massive traffic jams on Sohna Road as well as the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.
The army had announced an open enrolment session for aspirants at the Tau Devi Lal stadium here.
Suddenly, many of them began pelting stones on police vehicles when police tried to remove the parked vehicles. Police brought the situation under control after more than an hour.
The outbreak of violence created panic in the area.
