Indian Army's Northern Command chief Lt. Gen. D. Anbu on Thursday reviewed the operational preparedness of troops engaged in anti-militancy operations in south Kashmir areas.
Udhampur-headquartered Northern Command tweeted: "... reviewed security situation & Operational preparedness in South Kashmir; Interacted with troops & exhorted them to be vigilant while complimenting their high standards of professionalism & morale."
Defence sources said Lt. Gen. Anbu, while commending the troops for their recent successes in anti-military operation, stressed that standard operating procedures (SoPs) governing such operations must be followed in letter and spirit.
In three gun battles on Sunday, security forces killed 13 militants while four civilians and three soldiers also lost their lives.
