Art and cinema are powerful responses to terror group Islamic State, according to Turkish producer Nadir Operli whose film "Frenzy" deals with terrorism.

Operli, whose film is Turkey's entry for the Academy Award's foreign language section this year, was in Goa to attend the International Film Festival of India, where his film is being screened.

"I think all art, not only films, everything that we are producing as artistes of the world, I think they stand against what the ISIS is for," Operli told IANS against the backdrop of IS attacks on Turkey.

"I think our existence by itself is against ISIS. I think that what we are doing, our lifestyles, the stories that we are trying to tell against any kind of oppression, not just against ISIS would contribute in short term and long term against any kind of fundamentalist movement or organisation," Operli said.

A co-production between Turkey, France and Qatar, Frenzy deals with a bleak story about two siblings, struggling to make it in a country beset with politics-sponsored violence and stars Turkish actors Mehmet Ozgur and Berkay Ates.
