The Culture Ministry's new "National Mission on Cultural Mapping of India" scheme will provide direct channel of communication of artistes with the government, Culture and Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma said on Saturday.
Launching the scheme, a part of PM's 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat' scheme here, Sharma said the mission is set to cover all the blocks of the country, involving more than six lakh villages over the span of next three years.
"The mission aims to hold talent hunt competitions -- from block to national level and convert the vast and widespread cultural canvas of India into an objective cultural map and preserving the rich cultural heritage of this country," he said.
The Mission encompasses data mapping, preserving the scattered and near extinct art forms and bringing all the cultural activities under one web based umbrella for better results.
