Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday held discussions with Major General Ashok Dhingra, the General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division, on various defence issues related to the north-eastern state.
Both discussed defence land acquisition in the state and the Chief Minister assured all such cases will be taken care of.
The army commander informed Khandu about developmental and welfare activities undertaken by the Indian Army in border areas and plans to open schools for border people with support from the local communities.
Welcoming the army's initiatives, Khandu said his government in cooperation with the Centre is trying its best to compensate people whose lands were acquired for the defence establishment.
The Chief Minister welcomed the setting up of a Sainik School in Arunachal and said it will help bring people closer to the army and the state's youths will find new career opportunities in the defence forces.
