A reserve of 192 million tonnes of manganese ore, believed to be the largest in Asia, was discovered in China's Guizhou province, it was announced on Friday.
Pujue manganese ore was discovered in mountains between Songtao Miao and Jiangkou counties, Xinhua news agency reported. Manganese is used to make metal alloys, particularly stainless steel.
The mine will help poverty alleviation in Guizhou, one of China's least developed provinces, officials said.
