The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) and Asian Packaging Federation (APF) will jointly host the Asian Packaging Congress and give away the prestigious Asia Star 2016 International Awards for Excellence in Packaging here on Saturday, an official said.
The awards, dubbed as the 'Packaging Oscars of Asia', will be in four categories -- Consumer Package, Transportation Package, Eco-Package and Student category, said IIP Director N.C. Saha.
Over 200 entries have been received from across Asia which will be judged in a pre-event secret conclave here on Thursday, said Saha, who is also the Secretary-General of APF.
"Winning an international competition brings prestige to any organisation and the Asia Star is the only regional packaging award in Asia," he added.
IIP, falling under the Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry, is engaged in training, education, research and development besides exports for innovative package designs, testing and evaluation of packaging materials and packages, and packaging consultancies.
