Asiad golf: Indian men's team tied 4th

The Indian men's golf team finished tied fourth after the third round of the 17th Asian Games at the Dream Park Country Club here Saturday.

The team comprising Manu Gandas, Udayan Mane, Feroz Garewal and Samarth Dwivedi carded 210, taking its overall score to 628 to share the fourth position with the Chinese team of Zhengkai Bai, Zecheng Dou, Tianiang Guan and Jin Zhang, who scored 201 in the third round.

The leader of the event, where the lowest placed team member's score is not taken into account, is Chinese Taipei with a three-day total of 613.

In the individual event, Gandas shared fifth position with compatriot Mane and Chinese Taipei's Teng Kao with an overall score of 208. Gandas, Mane and Kao scored 68, 71, 72, respectively in the third round. Garewal and Dwivedi have been positioned joint 13th and 32nd.

 

Meanwhile, the Indian women's team of Gurbani Singh, Aditi Ashok and Astha Madan, ended the third round at the eighth spot with a score of 438.

In the individual competition, Gurbani was the highest ranked Indian at joint 14th with a score of 71 in the third round to go with an overall score of 217 while Aditi has been positioned 21st with an overall score of 224. Astha scored 78 in the penultimate round and 232 overall to be 24th.
