Asiad volleyball: Indian women's team bows out

The Indian women's volleyball team lost 0-3 to China in the quarter-finals of the 17th Asian Games at the Songnim Gymnasium here Saturday.

They lost 11-25, 12-25 and 10-25 in straight sets in 54 minutes, trailing their far superior opponents right from the start. The proceedings were completely one-sided and the Indian team never looked like having any chance of pulling off an upset.

For the Indians, S. Rekha distinguished herself scoring seven points but was outscored by the three Chinese players who scored 10 points each. The women's team had beaten Maldives 3-0 (25-12, 25-7, 25-11) in their quarter-final qualification match Friday.
