Security has been intensified in and around the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) airport at Borjhar near Guwahati following intelligence alert on a terror attack on seven major airports across the country.
The other airports on the target list are Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai, says an alert by intelligence agencies.
"We have received an input from intelligence agencies that some terrorist group might target one of the seven airports. We have reviewed the security arrangements of the LGBI Airport and all precautionary measures have been taken to foil the attempt of the terrorists," said a senior Assam Police official.
"There is no need for travellers to panic," he said.
