Thailand's National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) Thursday decided to set up a panel to investigate the assets of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra and several of her ministers involved in the controversial rice-pledging scheme.

Those to be investigated include former commerce ministers Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisan and Boonsong Teriyapirom, and former deputy commerce ministers Yanyong Phuangrach and Phum Sarapol, the Bangkok Post reported.

According to the NACC, the probe panel's mission is to find out if Yingluck and the former ministers accumulated unusual wealth from the rice-pledging scheme.

Yingluck and the ministers have been asked to declare their assets and liabilities to the NACC between June 5 and June 20.

Results of the assets investigation are expected to be announced by early July, the NACC said.
