The Atletico de Kolkata authorities have issued show-cause notice to midfielder Mohammed Rafique for skipping the side's training session Sunday at the Salt Lake Stadium without informing the management.
Rafique, a drafted player from the Indian Super League (ISL), has been asked to give a pertinent reason for his absence within the next one day.
The copy of the show-cause notice will be sent to ISL management as well by the Atletico de Kolkata team management.
Team co-owner and head of its managing committee Utsav Parekh expressed "shock" at Rafique's behaviour.
"We came to know about his absence from the team manager. Rafique did not even bother to inform in advance and had only messaged the team manager that he would be in Bengaluru today (Sunday) due to some other professional commitment.
"This is completely unacceptable. We do not endorse such indifference and dispassion from any of our players. We will be sending a copy of the notice to Indian Super League management as well," Parekh said.
