Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone plans to bring back Argentinian midfielder Augusto Fernandez, absent against Valencia because of a suspension, for his starting line-up on Saturday against Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga, after he trained on Wednesday.
The coach held a training session on Wednesday morning with 19 footballers of the first team, due to the absence of Fernando Torres who suffered a bruised right knee against Valencia, and the injured Stefan Savic and Tiago Mendes, reports Efe.
With Slovenian Jan Oblak in goal the lineup may also include Uruguayan defender Diego Godin, absent at the Mestalla Stadium because of stomach pain, with compatriot Jose Gimenez, Brazilian Filipe Luis and Juanfran Torres, but Simeone also tested the Spanish Jesus Gamez as a right back.
In midfield, Koke, Gabi, Augusto Fernandez and Saul Niguez have been chosen; although Belgian Yannick Carrasco played as a starter in the training instead of Augusto.
In the attack, with Torres out of training for recovery, French Antoine Griezmann and Argentinian Luciano Vietto trained on Wednesday.
