Owing to the political climate in Andhra Pradesh, highly anticipated Pawan Kalyan-starrer Telugu family-drama "Attarintiki Daaredhi", which was set to release Aug 9, has now been pushed to a further date, which will be announced soon.
"Due to the ongoing agitation over the Telangana issue, we have decided to postpone the film to a new date. We haven't zeroed in on the new release date yet. Once finalised, we will officially announce the release date," the film's spokesperson told IANS.
"Attarintiki Daaredhi" was set to lock horns with Vijay's Tamil action-drama "Thalaivaa" and Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" at the box-office, but now it's out of the race.
One of the reasons the film is reported to be postponed is because members of Samaikyandhra, people's movement group, threatened to boycott the film if released on Aug 9.
They were not happy with the way Tourism Minister Chiranjeevi dealt the process of formation of separate Telangana state and hence warned that they shall stall the releases of Chiranjeevi's family members' films.
Pawan Kalyan, who is playing the lead in it, is the younger brother of Chiranjeevi.
"Attarintiki Daaredhi" is directed by Trivikram and it also features Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Praneetha and Brahmanadam in important roles.
