Employee attendance at the state secretariat was very low on Friday owing to lack of transport due to floods, said an employee.
The state government's official website is not working also.
"Normally the secretariat will be bustling with activity on week days. Today it is like a Saturday as the secretariat is relatively silent," an employee told IANS.
The official website www.tn.gov.in too seems to be down as the pages does not load.
The heaviest rains in some 100 years caused unprecedented floods in Chennai and three other districts.
