A 17-year-old boy in Australia died after a shark attack at Cheynes Beach near Albany on Western Australia's south coast.

The victim is yet to be identified, ABC reported Monday citing police.

It appeared the victim had been diving or spearfishing with another person when the attack occurred.

It is believed a shark approached both of them and the victim received a shark bite injury.

The second person is not believed to have received any serious injuries.

The fatal shark attack is the eighth in Western Australia in the past five years.
