At least one person was killed and 18 persons were injured in an explosion at a natural gas plant in Austria on Tuesday, officials said.
The gas plant, belonging to the Austrian international oil and gas company OMV, erupted in flames at around 9 a.m. in the municipality of Baumgarten an der March, located 40 km to the east of Vienna, Efe news reported.
The regional police for Lower Austria said on Twitter that the situation was under control although firefighters were still working to extinguish the conflagration. The police said the cause of the explosion had been a technical failure.
