In view of International Yoga Day, which will be celebrated on June 21, the Delhi Police on Sunday issued a traffic advisory detailing the diversion of vehicular movement with instructions to avoid roads leading to yoga venues on the occasion.

The advisory said that AYUSH ministry is to organise separate yoga events at several venues in the city including Nehru Park, Lodhi Garden, Talkatora Garden, Dwarka, Rohini, Yamuna Sports Complex and Connaught Place.

Of these venues, police has prepared a fool proof security zone near Connaught Place considering it as the main venue where the event would be organised between 5 a.m. to 7.40 a.m.

For the smooth and convenient traffic, the Delhi Police has divided the Connaught Place area in two zones - red or no vehicle zone and yellow or partial restriction zone.

"The inner and middle circles of Connaught Place along with the radial roads inside its outer circle have been kept under red zone category and it will be closed for traffic from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. on June 21," said Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Goel.

"The outer circle of Connaught Place has been put in yellow zone. The outer circle and its radial roads leading to Connaught Place will be partially affected from 7 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. due to dispersal of the participants of yoga programme except for vehicles and buses carrying parking labels," the officer said.

These roads are Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg, Panchkuian Road, Chelmsford Road, Minto Road, Barakhamba Road, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Janpath and Parliament Street.

He also assured about adequate traffic arrangements at other venues.

"The traffic arrangements are for the guidance and convenience of public. Motorists are requested to follow directions of traffic police personnel on ground and avoid the roads leading to yoga venues," Goel added.
