Nassau (Bahamas), Jan 18 (IANS/CMC) A test event has been planned at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium in the Bahamas ahead of the IAAF World Relays to be staged here in May.
High school athletes from around Bahamas will compete in a series of races at the venue May 9 and 10 as the country gears up to host the event two weeks later.
Organisers say the test event will shadow the two-day relay meet that will attract the world's top athletes.
"To have competitive relays which will allow us to test all our competition officials and the venue, will be good for us," said Local Organising Committee Chairman Keith Parker Friday.
"But for the high school athletes, having the chance to be in the stadium where some of the world's greatest athletes will be competing will be an amazing experience."
All private and public schools have been invited to participate in the test event and the top 24 teams will be selected for the 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m and the top 16 for the Sprint Medley.
