Bahraini authorities Wednesday said five suspects who were accused of luring young children to engage in sexual acts over the internet will stand trial Oct 24.
Advocate General of Public Prosecution, Ahmed Al Dosseri, said unidentified persons in Bahrain were targeting children below 14 years of age through social websites to engage in sexual acts using coercion and blackmail, Xinhua rep[orted.
He added that the accused took pornographic photographs of the victims, and forced them to commit acts to satisfy their desires, and also threatened to publish their photographs and expose them to their families.
An investigation is under way in cooperation with an international agency that specialises in probing cyber crime targeting young children, according to Al Dosseri.
