The Bahraini Interior Ministry Tuesday warned the citizens against taking part in jihad missions abroad and called for tougher punishment to those involved in regional and international conflicts.
The ministry also warned the citizens against joining groups listed as terrorist organisations, adding that any financial or moral support to them would be considered a threat to the security and stability of Bahrain or the region, Xinhua reported.
The ministry said it is monitoring the development in Syria and charged some Bahraini citizens had joined the fighting there.
Four Bahrainis have so far died in fighting Syrian government forces, according to the National Justice Movement, a Sunni Islamist society.
The ministry also directed investigation agencies to arrest those who travelled to participate in fighting abroad, noting the suspects will be slapped with a travel ban.
