Two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto said on Monday it is looking at increasing its market share in the overall two-wheeler segment to nearly 23 percent from its existing 17 percent.
"We want to increase our total market share in the two-wheeler segment to 23 percent," the company's president of motorcycle business, Eric Vas, told media persons here.
He said the projected growth depends a lot on the performance of the 100 cc bike category.
The company is keen to grow its sportsbikes segment as well and increase its present market share in the entry-level racing category to 50 percent, said Vas.
According to the company, the super-bike segment encompassing the race sports category is less than one per cent of the overall bike market.

"In the racing segment, which we entered just now with the launch of two models, we are aiming to sell 10,000 motorcycles per month," he said.
Vas said the company, besides launching two bikes in the amateur racing category this month, plans to launch another motorcycle in its Pulsar series is planned during June-July.
He also hinted the company is considering launching models in the 350-400 cc category.
"Maybe we'll launch 370 cc (bikes) in due course", he said.
He said the "commuter two-wheeler segmenta had a zero-growth figure during 2014-15 and in April, there was degrowth in the segment.
"However, despite the zero-growth scenario, there was nine percent growth in the sports-bike segment," he said.
According to Vas, the damage to the rural economy on account of crop damage and "lack of economic dynamism" in the urban economy dampened the growth of the 100cc bikes.
"I don't know when the dampened sales will revive", he said.
The company has also planned to step-up its production capacity especially for its Pulsar range of motorcycles from the existing 3.25 lakh units each month.
