Two bodies were recovered shortly after an overloaded ferry carrying some 200 passengers capsized Friday in the middle of a river in Bangladesh.
"The bodies of two passengers have been recovered," a police officer said.
He said that the wooden ferry capsized in the Payra river, Xinhua reported.
A rescue vessel has been called in to salvage the ferry, the official said.
The ferry capsized as it developed cracks after it struck a submerged island, he added.
The number of missing people remain unknown.
