Bangladesh President Mohammad Abdul Hamid Tuesday paid a visit to the Visva Bharati university founded by Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore and went round the museum displaying Tagore memorabilia.
Hamid, who was scheduled to arrive in Bolpur in Birbhum district - where the university is located - at 11.45 a.m., reached over an hour late at 12.50 p.m.
Amid heightened security, the visiting head of state was received by District Magistrate P. Mohan Gandhi and driven from the helipad to the Rathindra guest house where he rested for some time.
He then went to the Uttarayan complex housing the museum. A brief cultural programme was also organised in his honour.
Hamid left for Kolkata at 1.55 p.m.
