An anti-terror tribunal will be formed to try BNP president Khaleda Zia and her associates for "instigating" bombings in February that killed eight people and injured 31 others, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said on Wednesday.

"The government has plans to set up an anti-terrorism special tribunal under Section 27 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 2009 to try cases of violence against Khaleda Zia and her allies," bdnews24.com quoted Hasina as telling parliament.

The prime minister and her party, the Awami League, blamed the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami for petrol bombings in February in which eight people, including two children, were burnt to death, while 31 others sustained serious burn injuries, amid a countrywide blockade enforced by the opposition alliance.
