The BSF has apprehended a Bangladeshi national and seized fake Indian currency notes of face value Rs.8 lakh in West Bengal's Malda district, an official said on Tuesday.

In another operation, two Indians were held while trying to smuggle out arms to Bangladesh from North 24 Parganas district.

In a joint operation by the Border Security Force and police, 48-year-old Anarul Islam was nabbed from near Kaliachak market on Monday evening.

"The accused is a resident of Chapai Nawabganj district in Bangladesh and had entered India on visa in November. Along with the seized fake notes, he was handed over to police for further investigation," said a BSF officer.

In another operation, BSF troopers apprehended two suspected arms smugglers and seized a locally-made pistol and several rounds of ammunition. The duo was held from near the Petrapole border checkpoint in North 24 Parganas.
