A 21-year-old youth committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan here after his family did not allow him to go Haridwar, police said Friday.
Narendra, who worked in a private hospital, wanted to take part in the Kanwaria Yatra that takes pilgrims to Haridwar from where they return with Ganges water.
The suicide was reported Wednesday night in south Delhi's Sangam Vihar area. No suicide note was recovered.
"His family told police he wanted to go to Haridwar but they didn't give him the permission. That might be the reason for his extreme step," a police officer said.
