Forward Robert Lewandowski's brace ensured Bayern Munich's 18th win of the season with a 3-1 margin against FC Augsburg while Hamburg FC came from behind to shock Borussia Monchengladbach 3-2 in Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich returned to winning ways as Lewandowski and Thomas Mueller provided goals to edge Augsburg 3-1 on Sunday in a 21st round match, reports Xinhua.
Josep Guardiola's men staged a clinical performance as Lewandowski opened the scoring with the first chance and after an assist by Mueller in the 15th minute. The Germany international set up Lewandowski, who slot a low-shot past Augsburg custodian Marwin Hitz.
Augsburg were unable to respond whereas Bayern increased their pressure to double the lead after the restart as Thiago Alcantara's pinpoint through-ball found Lewandowski, who wrapped up his brace and his 21st goal of the season in the 62nd minute to move atop the Bundesliga goal getter standings.
The German record champions were not done with the scoring as Mueller tripled the lead to put the result beyond doubt thanks to Douglas Costa's assist in the 78th minute.
Bayern retracted with the 3-0 lead behind allowing the "Fuggerstaedter" to score their consolation through Raul Bobadilla with four minutes remaining.

With the result, Bayern restore their eight-point gap on top of the standings while Augsburg remained on the 14th position.
Elsewhere, Hamburg turned the tides against Monchengladbach to secure their first victory in 2016 following a 3-2 win on home soil.
The "Foals" caught a bright start after Fabian Johnson broke the deadlock with 14 minutes into the game. However, Monchengladbach's defender Martin Hinteregger levelled the scores with an own goal after deflecting a shot into his goal at the 38th minute.
Artjoms Rudnevs' goal completed Hamburg's comeback after making it 2-1 on the scoreboards three minutes later. Hamburg extended their lead in the 80th minute through Ivo Ilicevic before Raffael reduced the arrears 3-2 in the dying minutes of the game.
With the seventh win of the season, Hamburg jump to the 11th position whilst Monchengladbach slumped to the seventh place.
