Spanish football giants Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale believes beating a team like Manchester City "is a step in the right direction" but "not the most important thing right now".

"Beating a side like Manchester City is a step in the right direction, but it is not the most important thing right now. We have to keep working and training to prepare well for the season," Efe quoted Bale as saying after Real thrashed City 4-1 to win the International Champions Cup here.

Right-back Daniel Carvajal, who started and played the first 45 minutes, praised his fellow Brazilian Danilo, with whom he will fight for the position throughout the season. Carvajal described him as "one of the best right-backs in the world".

"The team dynamic is really good. The side is constantly improving, we do what the coach asks us to and we leave games happy. We are all trying to work well to help the team," he said.

Russian Denis Cheryshev, the reserve team player who scored the fourth goal for Real in the match, was "really happy to have scored a goal" and "very grateful " to head coach Rafa Benitez.

"I am available for the club, I have a contract and I am very happy, so I am here for whatever the club wants me for. The coach is very attentive to everyone. I am very grateful to him," he added.
