Belgium's Princess Astrid in India

Princess Astrid of Belgium is in India leading a large economic mission of 344 participants, including 287 representatives of the private sector.

Princess Astrid, who is on India visit Nov 22-30, is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders.

The economic mission will focus on key sectors, including chemicals and pharmaceuticals, energy, logistics and transport, construction and infrastructure as well as diamonds, a statement said Sunday.

Belgium is India's second largest trading partner within the EU. In 2012, bilateral trade was euro 12.15 billion. Trade in gems and jewellery constitutes the most significant part of the economic linkages.

 

In New Delhi, Princess Astrid will meet External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and Commerce Minister Anand Sharma among others. She will also visit Chennai and Mumbai.
