Swiss tennis player Belinda Bencic continued her giant-killing run with a 7-5, 6-3 win over higher-ranked German Angelique Kerber at the Cincinnati Masters here.
Bencic, 18, was full of confidence after winning in Toronto last week that included a semifinal win over Grand Slam-chasing World No.1 Serena Williams, reports Xinhua.
Bencic on Tuesday said it's amazing that she could beat so many high-ranking and top players in the same week. Her coach Melanie Molitor said she was pleased with her mental strength after recovering from 1-5 down in the first set to defeat 11th seeded Kerber.
Her ranking has now reached 12 after the Toronto win.
"I don't need to adjust my goals because I don't set them like particularly for the ranking. I just look from match to match. I would never expect to be No.12 right now," she said.
