The West Bengal cabinet Thursday approved a Rs.1,377 trans-national roadway project connecting India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal, a minister announced.

"We will have to start work on it soon. This will boost connectivity and tourism. Rs.1,377 crore has been allotted for it," said state Education and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee.

In addition, the state government will go ahead with plans to rehabilitate destitute girl children under the "Muktir Alo" scheme.

"For this project, 21.59 acre of land area has been sanctioned by HIDCO in New Town (a satellite township in eastern fringes of Kolkata)," Chatterjee said.
