To facilitate city commuters at odd hours, the West Bengal government on Wednesday kickstarted night bus and tram services in Kolkata and its vicinity.
State Transport Minister Suvendu Adhikari launched the services at the bus terminus close to Howrah station.
According to officials, 25 buses and two trams would run on 13 bus routes and one tram route, respectively, from 10.00 p.m to 5.00 p.m.
The various routes would connect vital locations like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport and Howrah and Sealdah stations with north and south Kolkata, as also areas like New Town and Salt Lake as well as suburban Barrackpore and Barasat.
