In the wake of many political leaders landing behind bars in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam, former Supreme Court judge A.K. Ganguly Friday expressed anguish over politics in West Bengal going into "undesirable hands".

Reacting to the arrest of Transport and Sports Minister Madan Mitra in the Saradha scam, Ganguly said he was unhappy at the state of politics in Bengal.

"I am unhappy that this is happening in West Bengal. Unfortunately, politics in Bengal has gone into the hands of undesirable people. This should not have happened in Bengal," Ganguly told IANS on the sidelines of an event here.

On Mitra's arrest, he said: "Law has taken its own course and the probe agency going deep into the scam is making arrests."
