A partially decapitated body of a Class 8 student, who has been missing since Thursday, was recovered from a pond in West Bengal on Sunday, the police said, adding that four persons have been arrested in the case.
The body of Jagadish Halder, a resident of South 24-Parganas district's Baruipur, was recovered from a local pond on Sunday morning, an officer from Baruipur police station said.
"The body was partially decapitated and had several other marks of external injuries," the officer added.
Of the four arrested, the primary accused Ashok Haldar has confessed to killing the boy over a land dispute with his father.
Haldar, a neighbour of the killed boy, was initially detained after locals alleged that the boy was last seen with him before he went missing on Thursday.
