The West Bengal government which has ordered tests on Maggi noodles is in the process of taking a decision on whether or not to ban the popular snack, a minister said on Thursday.
"We have sent many samples of the noodles for tests. Some of the reports have arrived which we are analysing. The process of analysing the reports is continuing and we will soon arrive at a decision whether it should be banned or not," Consumer Affairs Minister Sadhan Pande said.
Pande said that besides Maggi, samples of others snacks like Kurkure and Lays have also been sent for tests.
Meanwhile, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation which had also sent samples of Maggi for tests said reports of the examinations have arrived.
"We had sent a few samples for testing, the reports of which have arrived. We have forwarded the reports to the state government which will take a decision," Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said.
The mayor, however, did not divulge the findings.
Nestle continues to maintain that its product Maggi is safe for consumption.
