Kalyani group owned company Bharat Forge Ltd (BFL) Wednesday said it has signed a contract with global aircraft maker Boeing to supply pre-machined titanium forgings for wing components for two aircraft models.
Under the agreement, the forging firm will commence the delivery of the products from the first financial quarter of 2016.
"The titanium parts will be heat-treated, shaped in a forging press, and machined by BFL before being shipped to Boeing Portland for finish machining into components. The components then will be installed in the Next-Generation 737 and 737 MAX wings at the Final Assembly plant in Renton, Washington," the company said in a statement.
It is eyeing the aerospace segment for growth this year.
"We have created requisite infrastructure and have secured global quality homologations. We are targeting revenues in excess of USD 100 million per annum from this sector," said the company's chairman and MD B.N. Kalyani.
The aeroplane maker presently has forging contracts with suppliers in Asia, Europe, Russia, and North America.
